Today is a sea day with a twist. We will be sailing by Willis Island on our way back to Sydney.

Willis Island is a weather/ocean observation post manned by a small crew who tracks weather and ocean events. They serve a 6 mo. tour with no visits home.
They have some recreation activities along with movies and tv.
We as members of the Captain's Club were selected to go out on the helipad to watch the approach to Willis Island and then hear a conversation from the bridge to a member of the island's observation crew.
Each of us (there may have been 40 of us) received a glass of orange juice or champagne as we went out on the helipad.
It was interesting as we each got a wireless headset to hear the conversation about life on the island.
We were able to see different birds flying around as well as observe the vast openness of the sea.
After about a 30 min. stop here the ship continue on its course to Brisbane.
