April 6, 2018 Port Douglas

April 8, 2018

Today is another tender port.

Instead of the ship's small tenders taking us to the port and back the captain arranged for large ferry type boats to take us. Although it takes longer to load and unload the boat is more comfortable and can take more passengers on each trip.

We arrived at the local marina where we got off and walked through the shopping complex to take the road to the downtown.

Port Douglas is a tourist town and has a good sized downtown with lots of restaurants, cafes and souvenir shops as well as a large supermarket.

We wandered up and down the downtown for a couple of hours and then walked back to the marina to find a place to have lunch. We ended up having lunch at Hemingway's Brewery.

Sophia had the fish and chips and I had the burger. Both were delicious but again very pricy for a lunch that we had to order at a counter and the server delivers to the table- fish and chips $26.50 and Burger $23.50.

After lunch we took the ferry tender back to the ship - 1:30 PM

Not much to do in this port but it was a nice slow pace which we needed after all the other ports and excursions we went on.
