At 8:30 AM we arrived at the Glen Canyon Dam visitor center. We had 45 mins. to see
the visitor center, video and take pics.
It was interesting to see how the plan for the dam was conceived and built with the result of the town of Page originating as a company town.
Today Page is a hub for water recreation on the Lake as well as the starting point to visit the Southwest's National Parks and attractions.

Back on the bus for the short ride to the Lake Powell Resort and the boat tour.
We boarded the boat at 10:30 for the 60 min. tour of the Lake. We saw lots of boats moored at the marina and then when we entered the canyon we saw tour boats, boats, kayakers and paddle boarders.
The views were very pretty- cliffs, rock formations and the desert.
One side of the Lake is on the Navajo Reservation and we could see the Navajo power generating plant in the distance.
We had lunch at one of the restaurants in the resort and then on the bus at 1 pm.
We have the afternoon free and we did some laundry and and walked the hotel grounds and rested until our 6:30 dinner hosted by the tour company.
Others took the optional Antelope Canyon tour.
We had a good buffet style dinner and a surprise speaker arranged by the tour company.
Leonard Nez is a Navajo who works for one of the local tour companies and he came to speak a little about growing up on the reservation and customs. He also played a traditional Navajo flute.
He arranged to bring a colleague and his 4 yr old daughter to perform a native hoop dance for us.
The girl is in training to go to the national Navajo Indian Dance competition next year.
