It is safe to visit Greece. we are here now and everything seems normal for tourists July 1-2, 2015

We arrived on July 1 and stayed a few days in Athens before going to Cyprus for a few days.  we wandered through Koloaki and had lunch at the restaurant in the square. Lots of locals over 55 sitting and enjoying lunch or coffee. July 1  we went to Plaka for dinner at our favorite restaurant Byzantio where we watched a steady parade of tourists & locals.

July 2- our second day in Greece/Athens and after breakfast we walked up to Plaka and then down to Monastiraki and looking at the shops and people walking around. We stopped at Starbucks to take a break and use the wifi to check our emails and then continued into the heart of the flea market. For lunch we stopped at Bairaktaris for a Greek salad and gyro and fries and Greek beer.

After a  traditional afternoon rest in the hotel we set out to go to our favorite tourist type restaurant in Plaka which not only has great food but live music and dance demonstrations. Sad to report that on a Thursday night there were only 5 diners plus us to watch the dancing and listen to the singer.  Since the band was willing to play requests I gave them a bunch of Greek oldies and they really enjoyed performing them for us.
